About FESA

FESA was officially formed in 2004, building it's executive from the Muir Lake project committee. Represented in the society, are the 4 major sportfishing related organizations in the Edmonton area. The executive is composed of 8 members. 2 members from each of the founding clubs are nominated to sit on the FESA executive:

The Society is registered as a Society in the province of Alberta. FESA is currently in the application phase for obtaining Federal non-profit society standing - which will permit the ability to provide charitable tax-receipts. At this time, most donations are not tax-deductible - however, it is possible to do so in certain circumstances.

Mission

Our mission is to enhance sport fishing opportunities for the benefit of all Albertans through public education regarding sport fishing and the development of fisheries habitat.

To that end - FESA's first project - the rejuvenation of Muir Lake features an education centre which shows the relationship between trout, their food sources and angling methods along with a "Walk of Fame" that recognizes Albertans who have had a profound positive impact on sportfishing and conservation in Alberta. Future projects are under review, and the society is in the process of creating a new sportfishing opportunity east of the city of Edmonton.
